What Is SCG Technology: Spatial computing glasses Technology

SCG Technology

In the world of smart glasses, many things will influence what you will be buying and the overall costs of your smart glasses. One of the smart glasses’ newest and most immersive features is spatial computing glasses, also known as SCG technology

By constantly measuring the area around you and considering where objects and people are, SCG creates an alternate reality around you with digital elements superimposed in your environment. This combines the virtual world with the real one, creating virtual computer screens, virtual people, three-dimensional environments, and even VR-like gaming environments.

These are just the basics of what SCG is and how it works, with many of the top contenders in the SCG world utilizing extreme computing to create the best AR. There are different levels of SCG technology that you need to consider and understand.

What Is SCG Technology?

In the strictest terms, SCG technology is wearable glasses that allow users to view and interact with virtual or digital environments and in the real world. The first proper SCG device introduced was Google Glass, first released in 2013, and the term has also started to include some of the more basic glasses.

People often assume that only smart glasses with AR capabilities can be categorized as SCG. In reality, the term SCG can refer to any set of smart glasses that makes any part of the virtual world more easily accessible without touching an actual screen.

SCG solutions like the Snap Spectacles and the Ray-Ban stories make the list of SCG-capable devices. Many times, you may find that the glasses that have the more basic functionalities are the ones that have more advanced technology in them as well.

SCG Technology Explained

Now that we know what SCG is and how they work, we can look at the proper definitions and technologies used. Each of these is part of the SCG term and is applied differently than many may ever expect.

It should be known that there are pieces of equipment considered SCG but not just plain smart glasses you can pick and walk away with. We always recommend you understand what technologies are available within the term SCG.

Smart Glasses

The first and only thing many assume is included with SCG are smart glasses that can show you messages and directions on small screens. However, this is not true, as almost any smart glasses that communicate with you are part of SCG.

The set of smart glasses that provide audio feedback or are only capable of taking pictures is also SCG. It would help if you considered this when choosing your smart glasses, as you may find yourself with a set of smart glasses recording every step you take.

Computerized Eyeglasses

Strictly speaking, computerized eyeglasses are prescription glasses specifically meant to help you work on computers while filtering out blue light. However, when included in the SCG term, these include glasses capable of providing feedback through Bluetooth or cables.

There are different types of computerized glasses specifically because they are meant to be used in different ways than most other SCG devices. We always recommend you consider all types of computerized eyeglasses before buying smart glasses that give directions.

Extended Reality SCG Technology

When we reach extended reality, we get to the point where things are becoming thoroughly mixed, and we are no longer just using glasses. Extended reality SCG technology combines many other advanced technologies to improve reality and imbue virtual reality into it.

It should be noted that unlike augmented reality or virtual reality, extended reality creates an entirely virtual reality that incorporates real-world aspects. When you wear the glasses or headsets, you will be transported into a virtual world that allows you to interact with it, either through controllers or with your hands.

Virtual Reality SCG Technology

Virtual reality is needed to create extended reality, which is currently one of the most impressive SCG technologies. Multiple companies are working on providing increasingly stronger and more affordable headsets to be used by average consumers.

Oculus, HTC Vive, and many other virtual reality headsets can create a whole virtual reality that can be interacted with independently. Unlike extended reality or augmented reality, virtual reality does not have any extension into the real world, and almost nothing other than the controller can affect it.

Augmented Reality SCG Technology

The line between what is and what isn’t can become extremely blurred in augmented reality. Augmented reality is when no screen is blocking your viewing of the world. Still, the screen you are looking for actively adds to reality, creating new images and videos.

Augmented reality is often the one that is shown in announcements because it is visually impressive and promises some of the most extensive uses. The limitations of augmented reality have been the processing and actual power needed to fully build something capable of doing it.

Mixed Reality SCG Technology for virtual or digital environments

Close to augmented reality is the technology used to create mixed reality glasses and headsets, each encountering limitations that must be considered. Many people have found that a mixed reality would only be possible if special glasses or goggles were unnecessary.

Mixed reality glasses aim to track where you are and how you interact with physical and virtual elements. The most common use for mixed reality glasses and headsets is in gaming. You may use a VR headset while overcoming real-world obstacles.

Head Mounted Display Glasses Vs. Heads-Up Display Glasses

Regarding what type of SCG you use, you must consider the two displays currently becoming popular. You will often find that each of these has distinct benefits and drawbacks when compared to each other.

Some enthusiasts have stated that these technologies are meant to evolve and improve together instead of competing. Knowing what each of these is, how you may use them, and how much each of them costs will most likely decide your solution.

Head-Up Display

A heads-up display is most popular with augmented realities and is Google’s preferred solution. These are glasses or goggles with a regular piece of glass with a small screen or even a projector that integrates the virtual world into the real world around you.

Heads-up displays are very tricky to use as they must be see-through at all times, have an extremely high resolution, and accurately track everything around you. This technology is also more expensive overall and is limited, forcing users to stay close to power points or computers.

Head-Mounted Display

Head-mounted displays are what most people are familiar with when it comes to virtual reality; these are usually used in full headsets. Many producers are supplying these as they are easy to integrate with computers and software, allowing the setup to take only a few minutes.

These headsets are usually more affordable and aim to completely transport the user into a virtual world without real-world interaction. However, these systems require a lot of open space. They can rarely integrate with the outside world, and the computers needed to run them are also relatively high.

8 SCG Technology Companies

Several companies worldwide are creating SCG technologies, trying to outperform everyone else. Some companies have unique solutions to these problems, which have yielded exciting results.

We will look at eight of the largest companies in the world that are currently trying to develop their solutions. Many of these already have products on the market that you can buy. Still, it would help to be attentive as the technology constantly improves, and new hardware is released.

Microsoft Pioneered SCG Glasses

The world of technology was shocked to learn that Microsoft mostly ignored the virtual reality world. Instead, from 2010 onwards, they showcased and made available for purchase the Hololens. This headset creates a fully augmented and mixed reality.

Currently, the system focuses on corporate customers as it has a hefty price point and very few features that the average person may need. As the technology continues to improve, Microsoft will likely have the first fully portable, fully augmented reality glasses on the market.

Google Glasses

Google Glass Edition 2 has recently entered the market. It works on the foundations already created by the original Google Glasses, released in 2013. These work by projecting basic information onto a small screen on one side of the glasses.

After these glasses’ initial release, many realized they work better in corporate environments. With a heads-up display that cannot be moved, the glasses are meant for non-disabled people. Most importantly, the system creates an SCG environment that works well with your other pieces of technology.

Warby Parker

Warby Parker glasses are still in the testing phases. They have announced that they are trying to create a set of glasses that allows you to integrate into the world of SCG. However, the closest you can get is by using their app to model possible Warby Parker glasses before you make the final purchase.

Because the company has not yet released its glasses, very little is known apart from the fact that they are planning to release a pair of its own. Right now, the smartest glasses you can purchase from Warby Parker are blue light-filtering glasses that allow you to look stylish while protecting your eyes.

Meta Platforms

The full suite of alternate and virtual reality that Meta is trying to introduce into the world cannot be adequately explained in the space here. With Oculus as part of the Meta group of companies, they have provided some of the most well-known VR headsets for nearly a decade.

However, recent announcements from the company have indicated that they would also like to start creating augmented reality. Soon we may all find ourselves meeting in the Metaverse or remember it as the first company to go all in on the virtual world.

After buying Akonia Holographics in 2018, Apple only rumors have been flying around about what these glasses are and how they could work. As such, the only real thing we can say about the Apple glasses is that they exist and that the company is actively trying to get them as sleek as possible.

Any images we have found online have been fan renderings of what the glasses could look like, which in typical Apple fashion, won’t be accurate. As with all Apple products that have not been released, the rumors make broad and unbelievable claims, which is usually how things turn out.

Ray-Ban Stories

Ray-Ban is one of the only large and popular glasses providers consistently releasing smart glasses to the market. Further, they are unique in allowing you to choose between three styles, Round, Wayfarer, and Meteor, each available with prescriptions.

These glasses are not meant to replace more complicated systems like Google Glasses or HoloLens. Instead, they provide audio feedback and can record gestures made with your hands or take pictures of the things surrounding you.

Snapchat Spectacles

Snapchat Spectacles, or Snap Specs, have been on the market for a very long time in one way or the other. These smart glasses allow you to create Snapchat pictures and videos with the least number of problems, all from a click of a button on the glasses themselves.

Further, the newest versions are reported to provide full AR experiences. So far, we have only the demos from the company itself on the latest versions, with all the previous versions of the glasses only doing the most basic functions.

While everyone else has provided the best possible hardware to realize the VR and augmented reality dream, VMWare has focused on other things. The popular system of virtual machines has focused on the software running across the different smart glasses.

Many companies use their software instead of the included software specifically because it allows cross-system sharing. Something that Apple, Snap, Microsoft, and Google do not natively allow to happen, limiting their smart glasses to only being used within their ecosystems.

Spatial Computing Glasses Stocks

Jeff Brown is an investment guru and the founder of Brownstone Research. He is known for his expertise in technology-based investment insights. Jeff Brown has over 25 years of high-tech experience, allowing him to identify trends before they take off.

He is also the editor of several publications, including The Near Future Report, Exponential Tech Investor, and the Early Stage Trader. Jeff Brown has been recently pitching the idea of SCG Technology, which he believes will replace all smartphones on the planet and make early investors rich beyond their dreams. Jeff Brown’s presentation on the prospects of SCG technology can be seen in the video below.

Brown has been keeping a close eye on the development of spatial computing glasses and believes they will be a game-changer in the tech industry. With major tech companies like Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Microsoft betting on spatial computing glasses, it’s no surprise that investors are noticing.

Use Cases For Spatial Computer Glasses Technology

Knowing everything about SCG must include knowing why and where the technology will be used throughout the years. Many corporations already use the technologies we have spoken about, with some systems being stronger and larger than many of us could imagine.

The typical flow of these technologies is that corporations use them for many years before most common folks get used to them. This allows the technology to be fully funded without a bad reputation, as business environments are often more forgiving than public opinions.

  • Medical Spatial Computing Companies: Medical personnel in cities may never need help as they can call on experts. But virtual and augmented reality is the only way to get slow and steady assistance from a doctor if you live and work in a small town or remote area.
  • Games And Entertainment: The uses for VR and AR in gaming should never be waived. These industries can often push for the most relevant technology increases. Gaming has already found a comfortable home on VR headsets, with many games now including it.
  • Training And Education: Similar to doctors can’t reach everywhere, teachers in small rural communities can’t teach everything. Instead, using SCG technology could allow teachers to get and teach students that would previously never have seen them.
  • Design And Demonstration: A space that is dominated by different types of SCG tech is the design world. Designers can create virtual structures or worlds that showcase their work.
  • Virtual Workspaces: A significant advantage to larger AR systems is that you won’t need the same space limitations. The tiny cubicle you work in could be filled with screens and notifications that fit the space available without clutter.
  • Remote Services: Sometimes something breaks, and there is no one with the knowledge to fix everything within a few days’ flights or drive. In these situations, AR and VR systems can help someone untrained to fix something with guidance from an expert that can see everything in real time.

Round Up

SCG is a group of technologies that will slowly and carefully take over the world as we know it, constantly introducing new technology. Often, those working with it now struggle to work without them.

If you are still trying to figure out the technology and how it will work with the world, we suggest you watch a few of the showcases where SCG is being tested. Whatever you do, please don’t try to stick to the cheapest options when you know they are limited.

SCG will be one of the primary methods we’ll use to interact with the world around us; however, it may still take a few decades for the technology to improve. You will often find that just using something for audio is more fun than trying something that creates images.

Always try out the goggles, headset, or glasses you will use before buying them.
