Cognizant and Microsoft Forge $1.1 Billion Partnership for AI Innovation

Microsoft Cognizant partnership

Cognizant and Microsoft Corp. have announced an expanded partnership to make Microsoft’s generative AI and Copilots available to millions of users.

The goal is to transform enterprise business operations, enhance employee experiences, and accelerate cross-industry innovation.

Cognizant, a leader in digital transformation services, operates at the intersection of industry and technology.

The partnership, in conjunction with Microsoft’s advanced generative AI and Copilots, can potentially deliver substantial innovation for enterprise customers.

This could contribute to the projected $1 trillion that AI is expected to inject into U.S. GDP over the next ten years.

Additionally, the partnership could significantly accelerate AI adoption and innovation in India, with AI expected to add USD 450–500 billion to India’s GDP by 2025.

Cognizant has purchased 25,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot seats for its associates as part of the partnership.

This includes 500 Sales Copilot seats and 500 Services Copilot seats.

The company plans to deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot to a million users within its global 2000 clients and across 11 industries.

Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant, emphasizes the transformative potential of generative AI for businesses.

He states that the company is investing $1 billion in generative AI over the next three years and developing new research to explore its potential for clients, employees, and end customers.

Microsoft Copilot is a proven tool that can bring transformative gains, unlocking talent and potential in ways we can only imagine.

Judson Althoff, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Microsoft, expresses confidence in the partnership’s ability to help organizations harness generative AI.

This will transform business operations, enhance employee experiences, and deliver new customer value.

The partnership aims to drive AI adoption and innovation for millions of users across its network by combining Cognizant’s industry expertise with Microsoft’s Copilot capabilities.

A key goal of the partnership is to drive industry-specific transformation.

This involves helping businesses reimagine operations in sectors without significant disruption in decades.

For example, a recent research report from Cognizant and Oxford Economics found that generative AI could automate up to one-third of tasks for emergency physicians.

This could help address staffing challenges, improve service quality, and allow doctors to focus on patients’ health.

Cognizant is already leveraging Microsoft Generative AI technology with its TriZetto platform to help payers and providers reduce hidden costs and improve patient outcomes for millions of Americans.

To take advantage of these opportunities, Cognizant and Microsoft will collaborate to deliver industry-specific solutions.

This will be done using Copilot Studio, a platform that allows users to create and customize their own industry- and business-function-specific Copilots.

Priority industries include healthcare, retail, consumer goods, financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, communications, and media.

Several use cases are under development, including translation and localization of video content for a media company, remote engineering diagnostics for a manufacturing firm, operating model redesign for an education services provider, and customer experience enhancement for a communications provider.

Cognizant’s Advanced AI Lab and network of AI Innovation Studios will support these efforts by advancing the science and practice of AI and showcasing Microsoft generative AI technology.

The company is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for responsible and ethical AI. This includes skilling programs like Cognizant’s Synapse, which will prepare the workforce for the age of enterprise AI.

In conclusion, the partnership between Cognizant and Microsoft represents a significant step forward in AI innovation.

Cognizant aims to transform enterprise business operations, enhance employee experiences, and drive cross-industry innovation by leveraging Microsoft’s advanced generative AI and Copilots

The partnership, which focuses on industry-specific solutions and responsible AI adoption, is poised to deliver substantial benefits for businesses and society.
